How It Worked
Full of merit, yet poetically, man dwells on this earth.
In this event, Spittoon poets will write spontaneous poems based on stories participants will share with them. Afterwards, the poets will read the poems out loud.
The idea behind it, as the original Chinese text put it, was that everyone assumes their own experience is unremarkable, and that this is almost never true. Poetry is not somewhere far away. It is next to you. Participants were invited to bring an experience, a thought, a memory or a scene, on the theme of “summer’s secret”.

Free. To participate in the event, please leave a message at the end of the article with your contact details, or add the venue on WeChat. Everyone is welcome.

Hosted by Spittoon in partnership with Noon Story (正午故事).
Among the guest poets was Matthew Byrne, described in the original as a poet, a musician, and the founder of Spittoon.
