Eight Years

Founded at Mado Bar on Baochao Hutong in Beijing in May 2015, Spittoon turns 8 in 2023. Eight years of poetry nights, fiction showcases, slams, Spittunes, magazine issues, workshops, storytelling events, and book clubs — across Beijing, Chengdu, Xi’an, Shanghai, Gothenburg, Lisbon, Addis Ababa, Riga, and Tucson. Different eras, dramas, victories, and stories. The mission continues.

May Birthday Activities

Birthday Parties and Magazine Launch Each Spittoon collective across China stages a dedicated birthday celebration — with a twist: the simultaneous launch of Spittoon Literary Magazine Issue 8. Confirmed dates: Beijing on 27th May. Chengdu, Xi’an, and Shanghai dates to be confirmed.

Event Programming Beijing, Chengdu, Xi’an, and Shanghai collectives run special events throughout May. Updates to follow for each location.
