Giving Something Back
With Spittoon’s growth from a single poetry night to an arts collective operating across four cities in two countries, the team found the means to give something back. In December 2018, Spittoon announced a partnership with Dew Drops — a Beijing-based charity providing medical care to abandoned children in China.

How It Works
Spittoon committed to raising funds through three channels. Suggested donations at each of its four monthly Beijing events. A dedicated platform at larger events — particularly Spittunes — with a portion of ticket sales going directly to the charity. And monthly online updates tallying the total raised and reporting on how the donations were being used.
The Dew Drops partnership was the first step in a broader commitment to work with different charities every six months.
About Dew Drops
Dew Drops provides medical assistance, preoperative and post-operative care, and a nurturing environment to China’s most fragile orphans. Most abandoned children in China are born with medical issues and disabilities — conditions that, without proper care, could endanger their lives or cause lifelong harm.
The charity partners with state-run orphanages to provide specialised medical care, early intervention surgeries, therapies, and individualised support. Established in 2016 and registered as a charity in 2017 by the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, Dew Drops operates three homes across Beijing, Inner Mongolia, and Shanxi, caring for 73 children at the time of this announcement.
